"Good Head"

that's what i was told i have, by my hairdresser, last night.

see, in case you don't know (and i can't imagine that many of you do know this since i rarely post pics of myself on here), i have a receding hairline am balding...terribly. i say terribly because what gay man wants to admit that he's getting on in years and has lost that youthful blush and his thick mane of gorgeous hair? not this one, certainly. anyway, over the last few years, my scalp has been making more and more appearances and what's left of my hair is completely unmanageable/unstylable (read: i hate "product" and refuse to gel/mousse/coif it in such a way that makes it look "fuller").

recently i've begun questioning whether i should just buzz it, alla Patrick Stewart and Ed Harris. i'd never shave it clean...i'd look too much like Stephen and i have a "thing" about couples that look alike. since i have a biological predisposition which leaves me incapable of making "important" decisons without seeking advice from a minimum of 3 people, i asked around what people thought of me getting buzzed.

Reaction #1 (John): no.
Reaction #3 (girl at work): sure...why not?
Reaction# 2 (Stephen): i dunno...it really depends on how your head is shaped...
me: well is my head the right shape?
S: i have no idea.
M: what do you mean you don't know? how is my head shaped?
S: um...like a head...but i can't picture you without any hair...you really won't know till you do it.
M: but i can't just do it...i need to know if it will look good if i do, before i do.
S: sorry.

so, last night, i ran the idea by Lisa Ann my buxom, perky-yet-bitchy, Staten Island hairdresser.

Reaction #4 (Lisa Ann): absolutely! your head is the perfect shape and you've got small ears and a nice, little nose! you've got a great head for a buzz cut.
Reaction #5 (hairdresser with chair next to her): oh yeah...great head...there's nothing worse than a guy with a pointy head and big nose who shaves his head...you'd look great.

Lisa Ann: but we're gonna do it really gradually, over the next couple of haircuts....to get you used to it...tonight we'll cut it shorter than we usually do, but not that short. yeah i think it's a great idea.

lisa got a big tip.

sadly, there is not much choice after the hairline has receded past a certain point.

Just do it. It's butch and makes you sexy(ish).

There's always hair transplants? You never mentioned that. But bare skin is hot.

The only reason why I said no is because I thought it would be a big shock if you did. I agree with Lisa Ann (of course I do lol)and her approach...Thats why she's so busy all the time. We love her lol...
